Wheat Bread by Kristine’s Kitchen


Ingredients:

  • 1 ¼ c. water
  • 3 Tbl. honey or sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp. yeast
  • 3 Tbl. butter
  • 3 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt

Directions:

Heat the water to 110 degrees and pour it over the honey and yeast. Let it proof for 5 minutes.

Add the butter to the mixture and let it sit and melt for a minute. Then add the flour and salt. Mix for 10 minutes.

Cover with plastic (to keep moisture in) and place in a warm area for 1 hour to rise. Punch down the dough and let it rest while you grease the loaf pan.

Form the dough and place it in a loaf pan. The dough may be sticky, so use oil on your hands to work with it. Don't add more flour. Let it rise for 40 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Once the oven is ready, place the bread inside and bake for about 25 minutes.
