Buttermilk Syrup


Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ¾ c. buttermilk
  • 2 Tbl. corn syrup
  • ½ c. butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla (added after cooking)

Directions:

Mix sugar and baking soda thoroughly. Add buttermilk, corn syrup, and butter. Cook on the stovetop on low until it reaches a boil and continue cooking for about 7 minutes. The mixture will rise, so use a larger pan than you think you need. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Mix well and serve.
